In the episode, I spoke with Mark Greenberg, the Michael H. Schill Endowed Chair in Law and Professor of Philosophy at UCLA Law. Professor Greenberg holds a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University, a J.D. from UC Berkeley, and a B.Phil and D.Phil from Oxford. In his writings on the theory of legal interpretation, Professor Greenberg has developed original views on the goal of legal interpretation, as well as his own theory of law, the moral impact theory of law. We discussed the importance of determining the goal of legal interpretation, critiques of textualism, and the relationship between legal interpretation and the nature of law.
